For maximum availability, the Backup7 service offers a failover solution for Fiber7 Business. If the primary internet connection fails, Backup7 ensures that connectivity remains seamless.
How it works:
A permanent VPN tunnel automatically establishes a secure connection via a secondary internet access point in the event of a fault. This secondary Internet connection can be obtained from any provider (e.g. cable, DSL, 5G, satellite). The switchover takes place within a few seconds using the VRRP protocol (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol). The public IPv4/IPv6 addresses are rerouted to the alternative path. This ensures that operation and accessibility are maintained A dedicated Backup7 router is provided for the service. Both Internet connections are continuously monitored and any faults are detected. Switching to the secondary connection and back is fully automatic.

- Automatic failover of the Internet Default Gateway (VRRP)
- Retention of public IP addresses (IPv4 & IPv6)
- Encrypted tunnel (WireGuard) for secure data traffic via the secondary internet connection
- Compatible with a standard Internet connection from a third-party provider (e.g. xDSL, cable, 5G) without any special requirements (CGNAT is supported). This Internet connection is not included in the service
- Backup7 router included, configured as backup default gateway
- Backup7 requires two additional IP addresses (IPv4/IPv6) from the customer network for VRRP configuration. The usual MTU size is guaranteed by means of the EoIP protocol.
