What must be considered when changing router or firewall?

Fiber7 / Crossover7

Fiber7 customers automatically receive an IPv4 address via DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol - more specific details can be found on Wikipedia). The addresses are managed and assigned centrally via redundant DHCP servers.

Please note that the DHCP server assigns IP addresses based on the physical port of our switch. If you change your router/firewall, you will be assigned with the same IP address. However, if you connect multiple devices at the same time (i.e. if you use a switch between the Fiber7 fiber and your network), all the devices will be assigned with the same IP address resulting in a malfunctioning connection. Make sure you connect only one device to the fiber.

Please note: this also applies to customers with a fixed IPv4 address!

Hybrid7 P2MP (XGS-PON)

After changing your router, the new router must be provisioned. We recommend that you go through the instructions again. In order to access the activation page again, as when you first set up the connection, VLAN 10 and DHCP must be configured on the router. You will need the NSN number of your connection as the activation code. If you do not know the NSN number, please contact our support team. If the activation page does not appear, the support team can request an ONT change. To do this, please provide the WAN MAC address. After activation, you must reconfigure the PPPoE login and VLAN to 11.

Hybrid7 P2P

The IP address is assigned via PPPoE and VLAN 11.

Copper7

The IP address is assigned via PPPoE.

Easy7

Easy7 does not provide for router replacement, as it is a rental router that is predefined for the service. Router replacement will only be considered, if there are problems with the current device. If you have a relevant concern, please contact our technical support team.
