What is the difference between P2P and P2MP (XGS-PON)?

In a point-to-multipoint network structure (P2MP), the optical fibre is used as a shared medium for several customers on the first section of the route. The division of the signals to individual customer connections happens at an optical splitter. This has an effect on the bandwidth: The more customers share a connection, the smaller the bandwidth for the individual customer. You can read more about this in our blog post (German).
