No IPv4 address any longer: DHCP lease time

Fiber7 customers automatically receive an IPv4 address via DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol – more specific details can be found on Wikipedia). The addresses are managed and assigned centrally via redundant DHCP servers.

Please note that the default DHCP lease time is 30 minutes. The IPv4 address is requested again every 30 minutes. This means that if you change your router or firewall, you should switch off the media converter and/or router for at least 30 minutes before starting up the new device. If this is done any earlier, the DHCP server will not assign a new IPv4 address and the connection is not made.

Please note: this also applies to customers with a fixed IPv4 address!
